2019 Election Results: PDP, APC Prepare For Legal Showdown

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues to announce the results of the February 23, 2019, presidential election at the International Conference Center in Abuja, the two main political parties in the contest are already preparing for the aftermath of the official declaration of the winner.

A report has it that Atiku Abubakar will not concede the presidential election to President Muhammadu Buhari who is projected to win, as the PDP has assembled a team of lawyers to challenge the result in court.
“We are currently collating evidence to challenge the results being announced by INEC. We have been asking them to give us the date of the card readers used in Borno, Yobe and Nasarawa states but they have so far refused. This is daylight robbery,” a PDP executive told TheCable on Tuesday.

In the same vein, the legal directorate of the APC has announced a planned meeting with its officers, to discuss issues arising from the just concluded elections.

The statement which was signed by the council’s deputy director legal: Mamman Yusufari reads: “Members of the Legal Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council are hereby invited to an emergency meeting of the Directorate on Wednesday 27 February 2019 at 4 pm.

''Venue is APC Presidential Campaign Council Secretariat, Herbert Macaulay Way,  CBD, Abuja. The Directorate is to discuss crucial issues pertaining to the 2019 presidential election and prepare for any likely legal issues arising therefrom.”
