Kwarans Sack Bukola Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki of the People Democratic Party will be addressed as former senator from May 29 as he lost all the four local government under his senatorial district in Kwara state to his main rival in the 2019 Senatorial election, Ibrahim Oloriegbe of the All Progressives Congress.

Though he won the polling unit where he voted on Saturday for both himself and for the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar but that was not enough for him to maintain his seat at the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

This is the first time the political godfather of the incumbent governor of the state, Abdulfatah Ahmed lost an election in the state.

It could be recalled that he was a two term governor of the state from 2003 to 2011 and he had been in the senate since 2011 where he took control of the affairs of the supreme legislative house.

The news of losing his seat could come as a shock to many but some political pundits have predicted that such a blow may happen as he has severally suffered booing in the hands of some Kwarans suspected to be ganging up against his age long political empire in the state.

Apart from that, his name has suffered a lot of attack as he spent most of his time at the  Code of Conduct Tribunal ( CCT) in 2015 to early 2018, answering questions on the corruption cases hanging on his neck.

More so, he was heavily linked to the Offa Bank Robbery where over 33 people including police officers were killed in April, 2018.
