Bola Tinubu Says It's Too Early for 2023 Politics

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the talk about 2023 presidential candidacy as "restlessness". He urged those who are talking about a succession plan to discard such a plan for now.

The two terms former Governor of Lagos State stated this on Tuesday while speaking to pressmen immediately after a  brief closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Tinubu also insisted that it is too early to talk about the section of the country where the presidency would be zoned to. He noted that the APC was just re-elected and the party should be allowed to focus on governance. “It will be mere restlessness to talk about it now”, he said.

Tinubu is considered the likely presidential candidate of the party in 2023 when power is expected to be zoned to the South. His visit to the presidential villa may not be far from his interest to succeed Buhari.

However, he has Pastor Tunde Bakare to contend with. The pastor has continuously insisted that he is divinely chosen to succeed the president. But it is left to see how the party will choose Bakere who is not a frontline politician ahead of the National Leader.
