Europa League : Martial saves United, Ericsson scored first Inter goal

Anthony Martial scored a brilliant goal as Manchester United were held 1-1 at Club Brugge and Getafe pulled off a surprise 2-0 home win over last year’s Champions League semi-finalist Ajax in other round-of-32, first-leg ties.

United found themselves in trouble as Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis lobbed the ball over Sergio Romero to give Brugge a 15th-minute lead.

But all thanks to Anthony Martial brilliant effort which saw United levelled in the 36th minute when he raced through to place a shot past Simon Mignolet.

United opted to bench new midfielder signing Bruno Fernandes, as they struggled to create many chances, although conditions were difficult with heavy rain and strong wind.

Christian Eriksen scored his first goal for Inter Milan since he moved from Tottenham Hotspur to set up a 2-0 first-leg win at Ludogorets Razgrad in the Europa League on Thursday.

Inter found it hard to break down their Bulgarian opponent by more than an hour until Eriksen stroked low shot into the net from just outside the penalty area in the 71st minute.

Romelu Lukaku, however, sealed the win with a stoppage-time penalty, making it his 22nd goal of the season after Anicet Andrian was judged to have handled the ball following a VAR review.
