The kingmakers in Kano State have replaced Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II with Aminu Ado Bayero hours after Kano State Government led by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje announced the sacking of the former Emir.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero is the son of a former Emir of Kano. Prior to his appointment as the new Emir of Kano, he was the emir of Bichi who was notably in bed with the current governor of the state.
The state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje is suspected to have always wanted to weaken the powers of Sanusi and get rid of him which finally happened today, March 9, 2020. However, the state government linked Sanusi’s removal to lack of obedience to government instructions and “insubordination” on the part of the former emir.
Immediately Sanusi was removed as the emir of Kano earlier today, the name of Ado Bayero was thrown up alongside Galadima Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi and the district head of Nassarawa, Nasiru Ado Bayero as a possible replacement. Ado Bayero was favoured ahead of the other two.
The new Emir of Kano is a Mass Communication graduate of Bayero University, Kano. He was first appointed as district head of Nasarawa in 1990 by his late father. He was named the emir of Bichi in 2019 after Kano State governor Umaru Ganduje divided the Kano Emirate into four.
Before being named the emir of Bichi, Ado Bayero was named district head of Nassarawa and Dan Maje Kano in 1990 by his late father.
He was later promoted to Dan Buran Kano and then named Turakin Kano.
Ado Bayero was also Sarkin Dawakin Sakarin Gida Kano before elevated to Wamban Kano and then named emir of Bichi.
