Arsenal vs. Liverpool FA Community Shield Preview

Today, Arsenal football club and Liverpool football club will hit the spotlight to remind the world that the 2020-2021 football season in England is about to kick-off. The two clubs will meet at the prestigious Wembley Stadium for the FA Community Shield final at 16:30.

The  FA Community Shield final is a match played before the commencement of a new season between the winners of the Premier League and the winners of the FA Cup. Since Liverpool won the Premier League title in the just concluded 2019-2020 season and Arsenal won the FA Cup by defeating Chelsea in the final of the competition, they will both give the world a taste of how the 2020-2021 season will look like in England.

Recall that the handlers of the Premier League had announced that the 2020-2021 Premier League season would commence on September 12. Hence, the Community Shield would be used to make the announcement even louder.

Arsenal vs. Liverpool: the Preview

Arsenal vs. Liverpool FA Community Shield Preview

Arsenal will step into the Wembley Stadium this evening with one thing at the back of their mind, to set a good precedence for themselves ahead of the forthcoming season. They knew how they struggled to finish 8th on the league table which is very unusual of the team and they would not want to start the forthcoming season on a bad note.

Though Arsenal managed to make it into Europa League, thanks to their FA Cup triumph, the manager of the North London club, Mikel Arteta, would leave no stone unturned in his drive to ensure that Arsenal bag another title under his tutelage.

On the other hand, Liverpool dominated the just concluded 2019-2020 Premier League season which was prolonged due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Though they won the league with 7 matches to go, they struggled to keep their shape throughout the remaining games.

Hence, the manager of the Premier League champions would want to use this evening to prove to the club's critics that whatever the club achieved in the 2019-2020 season, it was not a fluke. He would want his boys to step into the Wembley Stadium with nothing but victory at the back of their minds.

It might interest you to know that Liverpool and Arsenal are two teams that are very successful as far as the FA Community Shield is concerned. The two clubs have won the competition 15 times each. The only club that has won it more than them is Manchester United (21 times).

Arsenal vs. Liverpool: Their Pre-season form

After the 2019-2020 season, the clubs allowed the players to go on break. Afterward, they reassembled for the Pre-season.

In the case of Liverpool, the Premier League champions converged in Austria to kick-off their preparation ahead of today's match and the forthcoming season. While there, they played two friendlies. First with Stuttgart which they beat 3-0; the second was against Red Bull Salzburg which they struggled to draw with after they conceded the first two goals of the match.

As for Arsenal football club, the FA Cup champions decided to stay around the United Kingdom for their pre-season. They only left North London to Denbigh district of Bletchley in Milton where they played just one pre-season friendly.

In the pre-season friendly played on Tuesday, August 25, Arsenal faced MK Dons and beat them 4-1. They were not able to organize another friendly match before today's game.
